The Port Authority of Gioia Tauro is Public Institution with legal personality under public law and administrative autonomy, established by Decree of the President of the Republic on 16 July 1998.
Institutional objectives:

• policy, planning, coordination, promotion and control of port operations also in reference to security than the risk of accidents associated with these activities and the conditions of hygiene;

• ordinary and extraordinary maintenance of the common areas within the port, including that for the maintenance of the seabed;

• custody and control of the activities directed at the Supply against payment to port users of services of general interest.
